A short Interview with...

Felix Granzow

Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

My name is Felix Granzow and I will be completing my Master's degree in Glasgow in September 2024. At alpha portfolio advisors, I am currently working as a student trainee on the topics of automation, programming and internal tools. On 1 October 2024, I will then switch to a full-time position with the same work content.

Can you tell us something about your career path and how you came to alpha portfolio advisors?

I studied economics and was lucky enough to do an internship at alpha portfolio advisors at the end of my bachelor's degree. During the internship, I realised how much fun it is to implement exciting projects with highly intelligent and friendly colleagues. When I was offered the opportunity to stay on board as a working student, I didn't have to think twice.

What drives you?

Making things more efficient! As a trained economist and history enthusiast, I know how important productivity is for our society. We enjoy an incredibly high standard of living these days, but this is only possible because we are incredibly productive, i.e. we get a lot of things done in less time. With my automation work for alpha portfolio advisors, I want to help us become even more efficient so that our colleagues don't waste their time on tedious manual tasks, but can focus on what is really important, namely the customised selection of the best asset managers for our clients.

How do you find the right balance in life?

Lots of reading, especially newspapers, but also non-fiction books and novels, and increasingly road cycling. During my Master's programme in Scotland, I have lots of opportunities to explore fantastic landscapes (see photo). Only the weather is sometimes a bit scary.

In another life you would be...

History and maths teacher? I really enjoy both numbers and history - as well as teaching others.
